Another corporate head shot shoot at the same Best Buy
About a year later, I have done a second photo shoot at my workplace, Best Buy. This year has been difficult for the retail world, and I thought it would raise morale to do a photo shoot. Many of my peers have never seen, or haven’t seen in a long time, each others’ faces. There was opportunity to be able to have some fun, and get some much needed photography practice in.
Setup is identical to last year’s: Link to that blog post. Like last year, not everyone was photographed.
This was my first group shoot using my newly acquired Hasselblad X1D II and the 90mm lens. I really enjoyed cranking the leaf shutter to 1/2000 of a second, and leaving my aperture at F5.6. With the leaf shutter, I don’t have to worry about flash sync speed anymore. But there were still some quirks that were kind of annoying to get around. Camera talk will be left for another time as I’ll have to make a review about this camera at some point.
To better improve the workflow, I allowed for only one final image. Last year I let everybody choose 1-4 images, and that was way too much for me to handle. Having only one photo greatly eased the editing process afterward.
As far as deliverables go, I got to use a Canon Selphy 1300 printer to print out the photos and put them up around the store. The quality was pretty decent. I will advise to boost the saturation of your photos as the printer tends to fade the colors a little bit by default.
